I was finally able to get some good (OK...I am no photographer, but they are good compared to the other crap photos that we took) photographs of our home and wanted to share. Enjoy! Floor plan to come soon so that all of this will make sense.

ReplyDeleteoh and future nursery? anything you want to tell us??:) hehe
Hi! I'll be looking forward for more makeover on your house and DIY projects. keep posting!
ReplyDeleteSaw your home on YHL and had to swing by to say how GORGEOUS it is! If you'd like to come do our home when you're done, feel free! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it all! The stairwell is amazing and inspiring. Great work! (Also found you from YHL)
ReplyDeleteSaw you on YHL too. Incredible work, you two, it's absolutely gorgeous!! Subscribing now, because I can't wait to see more. :)
ReplyDeleteJust saw you over on YHL and I have to tell you your home is gorgeous!! I live just a hop skip away from you guys in Arlington and this makes me want to move out of my one bedroom apartment and buy a nice house just so I can decorate it exactly like yours! Haha everything looks beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you through YHL and I have to say my jaw dropped when I saw your gorgeous home. I can't believe you did so much of it yourself! Kudos to you!:)
ReplyDeleteI was also sent to you by way of YHL. I just have to say your house is by far my favorite that they've house crashed. I just love all of the choices you've made and am amazed that so much has been DIY! Maybe one day my home will be as beautiful as yours (or the Petersik's), here's hoping. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the rug in the dining room?
Hello! I am visiting by way of YHL. Your home is just gorgeous! I am neighbor, live in Ashburn and aspiring diy-er but in the NOVICE (extremely novice) category. Thanks for the inspiriation!
ReplyDeleteYou have the exact same floorplan as my house on the first floor. (Our second floor is slightly different b/c we have a room over our garage though)... I love yoru ideas. I'm always fighting with the narrow hallways and trying to make it look larger. I might copy some of your ideas for opening up the space!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your house! You did an amazing job! Probably my favorite house crash by YHL ever. Do you have a tutorial for the wine racks?
ReplyDeleteWe do! Check it out here http://theamenwithats.blogspot.com/2011/02/white-or-red.html
DeleteIf you have any other questions, just ask!
What a beautiful house you have, congratulations

Okay, so I've been looking *everywhere* for a wooden tray like the one you have on your dining room table. Where, pray tell, did you find it?! Please tell me you didn't make it out of the same fallen tree your coffee table came from ... ;)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby actually made the tray out of the same wood that we used to frame the map and the mirror in the powder room. He pulled it from a dumpster! I can ask if he can make you one, but he is pretty expensive :) haha!
DeleteBeautiful home! So many details but classic and simple. May I give one suggestion??
ReplyDeleteLIGHTING, LIGHTING, LIGHTING! Redo all your home tour photos during the daylight hours and all the details will stand out so much more. It will be a much better way to showcase your home. But regardless you guys have done an amazing job.
I know! Our house is so hard to photograph because we don't get a lot of natural light coming in. John had a tough time too but somehow managed to get great photos. Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteGoodness Gracious You two are amazing! Seriously I'm in AWE!
ReplyDeleteLove everything! All of it!!! Every last piece! You're fabulous!

I found your blog from YHL today and I'm so impressed with your design taste and your ability to DIY! I'm a northern virginia girl too so I've seen so many 80's colonials like yours. My husbands parents even own a home just like yours which they keep trying to get us to buy. I can't believe the transformation. We might actually consider taking them up on their offer now that I see you can really de-80s the home!
ReplyDeleteI found you through YHL too! You are being blog stalked by so many!
ReplyDeleteYour house is amazeballs! You guys have done such a great job! I have some tree stumps that I saved from a tree I lost in a tornado and I am going to make table from them too! My yard is a hot mess between the debris nonsense, stump grinding, contractors and two large dogs. Feel free to come visit me and give my litte plot of land a makeover. :)
I would love to know the paint color you used in the guest bedroom. It may be what I am looking for, for my "master" bedroom!
Our guest bedroom color is Benjamin Moore Quite Moments. Thank you so much for your kind words, we are overwhelmed by the amount of love for out little home!!
DeleteHi! Your house is GORGEOUS! I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the sectional in your den? I love it and have been looking for something like it! Thanks - can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteThe sectional is from Belfort Furniture, which I believe is local to Northern Virginia
DeleteThe glass pendant lights in your kitchen are to die for! Where did you get them? Well done to both of you. Its just too beautiful for words... Andrea in Australia
ReplyDeleteI would love to know your paint colors? Are they posted anywhere? Your home is GORGEOUS!! I want it!!
ReplyDeleteMost of them are contained within the blog posts but here is a quick list:
DeleteDen- Benjamin Moore Gunmetal Gray
Trim work, doors, kitchen cabinets- Benjamin Moore Cloud White
Powder Room- Behr Trail Print
Guest Room- Benjamin Moore Quite Moments
Guest Bathroom- Custom Mix of leftover colors
I hope that this helps! I will need to do a page with the colors listed!
Love the kitchen. Great remodel!
ReplyDeleteMichele, Thanks so much for the paint colors. I want to follow your blog by email, but I dont see a place to enter that? Maybe I just dont see it? Again, your home is gorgeous. Its picture perfect!I feel like mine is a cluttered mess, compared to yours. You guys are sooooo talented. You and your husband should be very proud!
ReplyDeleteNow available! Thank you for following :)
DeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog through Young House Love yesterday. My husband and I just bought our first house this summer and your house is the exact same layout as ours! It's actually quite erie how similar they are. We have a lot of updates to do and your blog has given us a lot of ideas. Will continute to follow :)
Hey just wondering where you bought your sectional couch. I'm looking for a good, comfy sectional. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBelfort Furniture which I believe is local to Northern Virginia. Good Luck!!
DeleteThanks!
DeleteLove your house! Can you tell me where you got the tile for the backsplash in your kitchen?? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.marblesystems.com/en/category/stone-type/marble/blend-mosaic/verona I found it for 1/2 price online but that place doesn't have it available any more. It looks like Marble Systems does though if you have a rep in your area. Worth the online search though if you need a better price! Of course, no place has the same name for anything. Good Luck!!!
DeleteYour house is awesome!! I found you through Young House Love house crashing as well, and I have to say, your kitchen is my favorite. The little window seat with the shelves - SWOON. My husband and I live in CA, and bought our little fixer upper 5 years ago and have been SLOWLY updating. Tackling the kitchen next, as it is currently AWFUL; Peeling floor tiles, mdf cab. doors with the fake wood all scraped off at the corners..oof. But I'm so excited b/c its shaped just like yours!! and now I know what to do with our weird little window nook!! That is just beautiful, I've always wanted a window seat and now I have a place to make one, so excited! Sorry, long comment, but just wanted to say thanks so much for the inspiration! :D
ReplyDeleteAwe...thank you so much! I would love to see pics of your place! Good luck with your renovations.
DeleteCOuld you tell me how the width and length of your dining room?
ReplyDeleteTodd
The dining room is 9'-8"x12'. I hope that helps!
DeleteThank you so much you guys are my new favorite!
DeleteHi! Your house is beautiful! I especially love what you did with the stairway walls. Can you tell me what color you used for the upstairs hallway? Is that BM Gunmetal Gray, as well? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a beautiful home! This is my first time visiting, and I caught your post today, and you're leaving for a week? What! Hurry back because I'll be coming back to read more :)
ReplyDeleteI just pinned so many of these pictures for inspiration in my house!
ReplyDeleteGreat job and thanks for sharing. (Found ya via YHL)
